A former Cumby schoolteacher has been indicted on charges of child sexual exploitation.
Lucas R. Hill, 38, of Sulphur Springs, has been charged with producing child pornography, enticing a minor and transferring obscene matter to a child younger than 16.
Law enforcement officers followed up on a tip from a family who found an unknown person had made a Facebook account using pictures of their minor son. An investigation led to Hill.
Hill taught at Cumby ISD and is alleged to have made the social media account under the name "Aaron Cage." He reportedly used photos from another minor to pose as a teenaged boy.
From at least October 2013, Hill is accused of having contacted numerous minor females, including children at Cumby schools, through the fake Facebook page. Hill is accused of persuading the girls to share pictures and videos of themselves engaging in sexual activity.
Cumby ISD released the following statement following Hill's June arrest:
"Cumby Independent School District is aware of the arrest of a former employee. The safety and well-being of students of Cumby ISD is our primary concern. We have acted, and will continue to act, in a swift and diligent manner to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. This matter is currently under investigation by law enforcement, and Cumby ISD may not comment further at this time. Cumby ISD will continue to cooperate with local law enforcement and state officials as those entities perform their duties."
If convicted, Hill could spend 10 years in federal prison. Hill is scheduled to make his first court appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Don. D. Bush on July 22.
