A former Fannin County sheriff’s deputy is free on bond after pleading guilty to a felony charge related to sexual assault of female inmates in county custody.
William Clifford Isaacs Jr. of Ladonia also resigned from his position on the Ladonia city council after pleading guilty in federal court on June 9.
A federal indictment alleges that Isaacs assaulted at least four women while working as a transport officer in 2012. Federal prosecutor Maureen Smith told Sherman-based KXII-TV that the indictment also charges Isaacs with threatening to use his county-issued pistol during one of the assaults.
In his plea statement, Isaacs said he had mutually consensual oral sex with the inmates, but the judge told Isaacs that inmates are not capable of consent in that situation.
Ladonia mayor Christopher Burch told KXII that Isaacs gave verbal notice of his resignation from the city council.
“We look to have a council meeting Friday, to officially accept his resignation as a body of the council, and they are going to look to nominate someone else, whoever the council chooses, and see if they’ll take the seat and take the vote on it,” Burch said.
Smith said the case is now in the sentencing phase and that Isaacs could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
