Former fire chief Palya cleared of charges

By Scott Harvey

Bonham – The Fannin County Grand Jury has ruled that former Bonham Fire Chief Bill Palya will not face criminal charges.

Palya was fired last month after spending nearly five months on administrative leave.

According to District Attorney Richard Glaser, the Texas Rangers presented their case against Palya to the grand jury Friday.

Still, neither city officials nor Glaser have commented as to the allegations that were brought against Palya earlier this year.

The Bonham City Council is now in the process of searching for a new fire chief. Palya had served with the city for nearly five years.
