Former murder suspect faces more charges

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A former Hunt County murder suspect is facing more legal trouble.

Michael Anthony Polk, of Caddo Mills, is alleged to have robbed an elderly man in December 2009 and threatened to kill a police officer.

Nearly a decade ago, Polk was indicted for the 1996 shooting death of Greenville resident Raymond Edwards.

The murder indictment was dismissed in 2002, after then District Attorney F. Duncan Thomas explained that Polk was in federal custody on an unrelated charge and was not expected to be released until 2006.

While the indictment could have been re-filed once Polk was released, there is no record of that being done.
