Sulphur Springs – An 18 year old Sulphur Springs woman was killed last week in a car accident on Highway 11. Jessica Lynn Owens apparently ran off the road and hit a tree near Gafford's Chapel along Highway 11 west of Sulphur Springs. The car slid out of control across the highway and through a deep ditch before skidding another 100 yards and striking a large tree.
State Troopers are investigating the accident and say another vehicle may have been involved.
Owens was very active in the First Baptist Church and had been a member of the Homecoming Court and was voted Prom Queen in her senior year at Sulphur Springs High School.
