Forum gives minorities chance to address issues

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A public forum gives minority residents a chance to express issues affecting the community.

Reatta Fort with the Department of Justice's Community Relations Service was in Greenville Thursday to learn what the public wanted addressed by the agency, as it seeks to help restore racial stability and harmony.

Fort had previously met with officials from the City of Greenville and the NAACP following the recent fatal shootings of two minority individuals in Greenville by law enforcement officers, and in anticipation of the city's hiring a new police chief.

Fort said she would compile the issues which were raised and report to city officials. Another public forum is expected in about two weeks.
