Foster homes sought for rescued horses

Quitman – A Wood County judge has awarded True Blue Animal Rescue custody of the 26 horses seized from a pasture in Yantis last month.

True Blue is now seeking foster homes for the horses, all of which are ten years or younger. Although none of them are in good health, they're conditions are improving.

On January 24, authorities rescued the horses from a location near Highway 154 described as unbearable, with the dried up ground serving as the animals' only source of food.

Many carcasses were also found. The horse's owner, 67-year-old Linda Hurley Jones, of Yantis, was arrested following this week's hearing. She's been charged with animal cruelty and is currently jailed under $13,000 bond.
