Freezing rain expected Sunday afternoon

NWS

While some parts of North Texas are expected to receive snowfall on Feb. 2, the forecast for the KETR service area features freezing rain instead.

Most of Fannin County, eastern Collin County and Rockwall County are expected to have some freezing rain this afternoon, with up to a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation expected on elevated surfaces.

In Hunt County, areas north of a Caddo Mills-Greenville-Commerce line are also expected to experience about a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation as a result of freezing rain. South of that line, ice accumulations should be thinner, with just a light glaze of ice on elevated surfaces.

Lamar County, Delta County, western Hopkins County and northern Kaufman County are also expected to experience a light glaze of ice on elevated surfaces as a result of freezing rain.

Collin, Dallas, Delta, Fannin, Hunt, Kaufman, Lamar, Red River and Rockwall are among the Texas counties under a Winter Weather Advisory until 9 p.m. Feb. 2.

Grayson County, which should have some sleet and snow on Feb.2, is under a Winter Storm Warning until 9 p.m.

In Oklahoma, Bryan County is under a Winter Storm Warning, Choctaw County is under an Ice Storm Warning and McCurtain County is under a Winter Weather Advisory.
