COMMERCE - University Police at Texas A&M University-Commerce are investigating an apparent stabbing that occurred early Friday afternoon on campus.

Lt. Jason Bone, crime information officer with UPD, tells KETR that a male subject has been transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville for treatment for wounds to his left calf. The extent of the victim’s injuries was not immediately clear but was believed to have been caused by a knife.

“It was a stab wound; possible may have two stab wounds to his left calf. But I did not personally witness, nor have I seen photographs of the injury so I don’t know severity yet,” Lt. Bone said.

The alleged crime took place at New Pride Apartments at around 1 p.m. It was reportedly the result of a domestic dispute between a male and female, according to Bone.

“We do know it was domestic dispute. They have had at least a prior relationship in the past. I’m not sure what their current status is yet.”

No one was in custody as of 2:30 p.m. and officers were still on the scene taking statements at last report.
