Gag order issued in Hunt County murder case

By Brad Kellar

Hunt County – A gag order is issued in a Hunt County capitol murder case.

A judge issued the order Thursday in the case of Tracie Danielle Alphin, indicted on a charge of capital murder in the shooting death last October of Jason Herrington of Quinlan. Alphin, also of Quinlan, has pleaded not guilty.

The gag order restricts attorneys for both the defense and prosecution from discussing the case with the press.

An interim hearing for Alphin is scheduled for next Thursday. Alphin and David Earl Hickman, of Royse City were originally charged with Herrington's murder. Both remain in custody at the Hunt County Jail, each in lieu of $1 million bond. Hickman was arraigned on the capital murder indictment and pleaded not guilty March 12. An interim hearing in Hickman's case is scheduled for Monday.
