GEUS Board to receive progress report

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Progress is being made on a new service center for the Greenville Electric Utility System.

The GEUS board of trustees is expected to receive an update Thursday on the progress of the new center. The board also intends to authorize a final payment to the company which installed the utility's solar panels at local schools.

MPI Architects of Dallas was hired in February to renovate a former post office in Greenville into the new GEUS consumer service center. In December the board awarded a bid to remove the asbestos insulation from inside the building, which has been complete.

MPI Architects will design the interiors to be suited for a consumer service center and bring the structure into compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act, as well as to design a drive-through facility and design structural repairs.
