Grant to aid Grayson County emergency operations

By Scott Harvey

Sherman – Grayson County Commissioners have accepted a $270,000 federal grant to maintain and enhance emergency services.

The Homeland Security Grant Program through the Texas Department of Public Safety will benefit first responders and other emergency management agencies in the county. Communications upgrades, including maintaining Grayson County's Code Red Emergency Notification System, will be items of focus.

Code Red, which is also used by other area entities, including the City of Greenville, allows registered citizens to receive emergency messages via text, voicemail, or email.
