Grant funding to benefit several local libraries

– Funding has been approved for nearly two dozen libraries in Northeast Texas through the Texas State Library and Archives Commission's Lone Star Grant Program.

Commerce Public Library Director Gayle Gordon says they plan to use the nearly $4,500 they are to receive to purchase children and teenager books, periodicals, microfilm and magazines, among others items.

Greenville's W. Walworth Harrison Public Library will receive over $8,500, a majority of which will be allocated to their summer reading program that last year saw nearly 800 participants. The remaining funds will be used to purchase digital books to add to the newly launched eLibrary.
