Greenville and L-3 square off in court

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – The ongoing dispute between the City of Greenville and L-3 Mission Integration is scheduled for a court appearance Tuesday.

L-3 rests on the property of Major's Field Municipal Airport. Officials with the Defense Contractor claim the City is using a re-plat of the airport to circumvent a recent ruling and make the land taxable. The injunction sought by L-3 would prevent the re-plat from being formally filed.

City officials have repeatedly stated the re-plat would have no effect on the airport's tax exempt status.

Should an injunction be granted, the City would be prevented from filing the document until after a trial is held.
