Greenville appoints Assistant City Manager

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – The City of Greenville has appointed an Assistant City Manager.

John Adel currently serves as the City's Community Development Director. According to Greenville City Manager Steven Alexander, Adel has proved to be a solid leader in the organization and a strong manager. He has the credentials that will assist in addressing the challenges the City faces in growing and development planning.

Alexander also feels having an Assistant City Manager will allow City operations to be managed more effectively and help focus on local and regional planning, transportation and economic development initiatives.

As Assistant City Manager, Adel will oversee the Community Development Department, Parks and Recreation Department, Library and Main Street. In a statement issued by the City, Adel says he's looking forward to working on important initiatives that will be aimed at quality-of-life issues in Greenville such as great neighborhoods, thriving downtown, transportation, parks and amenities, and community aesthetics.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture, Adel received his Master's Degree in Regional and City Planning from the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Planners. He and his wife Aaron reside in Greenville and are the parents of three sons.
