Greenville approves pursuit of park grant

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A Greenville city park is in line for some grant funding.

While the city council Tuesday approved applying for $500,000 grant for improvements to Graham Park, there was concerned raised about how they'd afford the $500,000 required match. City Manager Steven Alexander said, however, the city would be committed to finding the money necessary for the work.

The outdoor recreation grant would be used for items including but not limited to playground equipment upgrades, a fishing pier, a disc golf course, a dog park and a splash park. It won't be until January before the city knows if it's won the grant.

The City of Commerce is currently awaiting word from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department regarding a $75,000 for City Park. That information should be made available within the next couple of months.
