Greenville database to track meth users, distributors

Greenville – The City of Greenville is taking steps to curb the availability of products used to make methamphetamine.

The Greenville Council this week adopted an ordinance which requires the implementation of an electronic record keeping system, to monitor the sales of Ephedrine, Pseudoephedrine and Norpseudoephedrine.

The Leads Onlabs computer database will help identify suspects involved in meth labs.

Greenville Police Chief Harold Roseberry told the Council that the Texas Legislature is considering making the measures mandatory statewide. Greenville is the second city in Texas, behind Wichita Falls, to establish such a database and Roseberry believes it won't be the last.
