Greenville to discuss charter amendments

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – The Greenville City Council is scheduled to discuss potential amendments to the city's charter during Tuesday's work session beginning at 5 p.m.

A Citizens Charter Review Committee is to be appointed by the Council in the near future. The committee will be charged with coming up with recommendations on how to improve rules and regulations governing how the council, the city administration and related agencies do business.

The last Charter review began in 2004 and resulted in a May 2005 election where all 16 proposed amendments were passed.

The Commerce City Council recently appointed ten individuals to a Charter Review Committee. The city's charter was last amended in 1995. The original document was created in 1954.
