Greenville to discuss new rules for beer barns

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – There could be some new rules for beer barns in Greenville. Although sales of beer and wine for off-premise consumption began in the City last month, Greenville has not yet seen the opening of any "beer barn" stores, nor does the city have rules in effect to regulate the locations. The City Council is scheduled tonight to host a public hearing and then take a vote on new proposed rules which would govern the stores. The hearing and the vote are included during the Council's regular session, starting at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building downtown. Rules which the City adopted last year do not address concerns over those stores which would sell beer and wine as their primary business and at least one such business is planned for the Ardis Heights area.
