Greenville drowning victim identified

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – Authorities have released the name of a Greenville woman said to have drowned this week a Greenville Reservoir.

21 year old Detirsza Spriggs was pronounced dead after being transported to Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville Wednesday night. Spriggs was one of two passengers of a car that reportedly slid off the road and flipped upside down before landing on its top in about five feet of water.

According to witnesses and confirmed by police officers at the scene, the car was northbound on the road when the driver apparently lost control. It is believed the accident appeared to have been caused by the driver of the sedan driving too fast for Power Lane, the narrow roadway which circles the reservoir.

The female driver and a male passenger were able to escape the vehicle, according to a statement released by the police department.
