Greenville group wants two-way traffic downtown

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – An urban renewal group wants two-way transportation in Downtown Greenville.

During a meeting Tuesday, the Citizens Urban Renewal Effort (C.U.R.E.) asked those in attendance to sign a petition asking for Lee and Washington Streets to be converted from their present one-way operation. C.U.R.E. is also planning to conduct a walking tour later this month of the area in the hopes of encouraging participation from more of the residents in the vicinity.

The Friends of Main Street, along with the Smart Growth group through the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, are already in the process of drafting a resolution of support for making the change to two-way streets, for presentation to the City Council.
