Greenville high speed chase leads to minor injuries

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – An early morning pursuit by Greenville Police Monday ends when a suspect vehicle crashes into an apartment building.

The incident began at a gas station along Wesley Street at around 2:00 a.m., but ended on the front porch of a Stanford Street apartment.

A female driver was being questioned by an officer when she fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The driver would eventually strike a parked car, and then hit a trash container. The chase would end after she knocks down a column on the front porch of the apartment, causing considerable damage to the front wall of the building.

The driver and a female passenger, both minors, were transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries. The passenger was released, and the driver placed in custody at the Hunt County Juvenile Detention Center, charged with failure to identify and evading with a vehicle.

The vehicle belonged to the driver's grandfather and it is believed that the driver used the vehicle without his permission.
