Greenville Honoring King with Weekend Events

The Corporation for Cultural Diversity of Greenville, Texas, the Greenville Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (GIMA) and the Greenville Branch of the NAACP are hosting the 2013 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday celebration.

The events will begin Saturday with a 5K “Run Against Racism,” starting from Market Square downtown.

The Annual MLK Parade is scheduled to begin from Market Square at 10 a.m. Saturday, with staging one hour earlier. Following the parade, at 11 a.m. Saturday, there will be a program celebrating King at Municipal Auditorium.

On Sunday, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. worship service, sponsored by the ministerial alliance, will be open to the public beginning at 3:30 p.m. at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church.
