Greenville looking to get rid of eight liners

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – City of Greenville officials are looking to get rid of eight liners. The Greenville City Council is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a one year moratorium on eight liners, which would prohibit the use of the machine. While gambling in Texas is illegal, with the exception of horse racing and the state lottery, there is also an exception for games which award non-cash prizes to winners, as long as the prize value does not exceed $5. City staff has recently become aware of the return of eight liners to Greenville, but has no evidence of any operating illegally.
