Greenville man arraigned in assault of deputy

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A local man is arraigned for pointing a gun at an officer.

Charles B. Rose, of Greenville, was arraigned Thursday on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Rose was shot last November after he allegedly pulled a gun on Hunt County Sheriff's deputy Terry Jones. Rose has pleaded not guilty.

According to reports, Jones was stopped by a passer-by who said Rose had a gun. He then approached and ordered Rose to drop his firearm, but when Rose was alleged to have raised his gun "in a threatening manner", Jones fired three shots, hitting him once in the left knee.
