Greenville man arraigned on robbery/organized crime charges

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Another arraignment is held in Greenville on charges of armed robbery and organized crime.

21-year-old Tony Ray Askew Jr., of Greenville, is the latest person to plead not guilty to such charges. An attorney was appointed to represent Askew and an interim hearing was set for July 23.

The indictment alleges Askew was one of three people who used a handgun to threaten and rob a man in Greenville in October, 2008. The three men are alleged to have conspired together to plan and commit the robbery with the intent to establish, maintain and/or participate in a combination or as a member of a criminal street gang.
