Greenville man to be sentenced Thursday
By Brad Kellar
Greenville – A rescheduled sentencing hearing is today for a Greenville man convicted on child pornography charges. Sentencing for Steve Kelby Samples was originally set for last month, but reset for today in Dallas. Samples was convicted last year on all charges included in an indictment charging transporting, shipping and possessing child pornography. He faces a maximum statutory sentence of 30 years in prison and a $500,000 fine. The charges against Samples stem from an undercover FBI agent downloading child pornography images from Samples' computer. Federal agents in January, 2007 executed a search warrant at Samples' residence in Greenville and seized a computer containing the child pornography. Some of the images involved "real," as opposed to virtual children.
