Greenville – Aggravated robbery of a local business lands a Greenville man in prison.
Steven Derek Franklin was found guilty Wednesday following a brief trial and sentenced to eight years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional-Division.
Franklin was one of two individuals who were found guilty of the robbery of the K-Food Mart in May 2007. He had pleaded not guilty.
Testimony began in the case Tuesday morning and the jury returned the verdict Wednesday. As the jury also found Franklin used a deadly weapon during the commission of the robbery, he will have to spend at least half of the sentence, or four years, in prison before being eligible to be considered for parole.
