Greenville man on Texas' 10 Most Wanted list

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – A Greenville man with a history of violence has been named as one of the most wanted fugitives in Texas. Alfred Earl Green Jr., was included Tuesday on a list of the Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The information released by the state agency indicated Green is wanted on charges of aggravated assault and possession of dangerous drugs and authorities warned that Green has violent tendencies.

Green has been wanted since August on an outstanding warrant from the Hunt County Court-at-Law for assault causing bodily injury/family violence. Green was alleged to have assaulted a female victim in Greenville on July 1.

Green was convicted of the same charge and placed on probation in 2004, for assaulting female victims in July and December 2003. Green was also charged with assault causing bodily injury in 1995, although the charge was later dropped after the complaining witness in the case could not be located.

A McKinney man also appeared on the list. Joe Wayne Cates is wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and indecency with a child by contact.

A $1,000 cash reward is being offered to any person who provides information at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477). The current list, with photos, is available on the DPS website at http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/wanted/. The list is updated as needed.
