Greenville murder case to begin soon

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Trial will begin soon in a Greenville murder case. Trial is scheduled to begin next week for Gerald Wayne Johnson Jr., of Greenville, indicted on one count of murder in connection with the July, 2007 shooting death of Carlton Collier, also of Greenville. Johnson has pleaded not guilty to the charge. A final pretrial hearing is set for Thursday, with jury selection to begin Monday. Multiple suspects had been arrested and charged with being among those responsible for Collier's death, although Johnson has been the only individual indicted in the case.
