Greenville murder suspect claims innocence

GREENVILLE - One of two men charged in connection to the July 2 shooting death of Greenville resident Javon Newman has pleaded not guilty.

An interim hearing has now been scheduled for October 13 for Devon Eugene Royal. His alleged co-actor, Antonio Durance Fletcher, will be arraigned Monday.

The two men, both of Greenville, were arrested on July 4 in Dallas, two days after the killing. Javon Newman was found shot multiple times at a local apartment complex.
