Greenville murder trial finally underway

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A Greenville murder trial is now underway.

26-year-old Andreas Tearri Morris, of Greenville, is charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of 18 year-old Cordarien Marquel Kelly, also of Greenville, in July 2007.

Jury selection took place Monday, with opening arguments and the start of testimony set for Tuesday. Morris had previously pleaded not guilty to Kelly's murder and jury selection was scheduled for March 23 but the trial was canceled and the original indictment against him dismissed after only a handful of the witnesses' prosecutors had planned to testify appeared.

Kelly was found shot several times in the 1800 block of Wellington Street on July 1, 2007.
