Greenville narcotics bust

By City of Greenville news release

Greenville, TX –

The Greenville Police Department's Tactical Unit executed a narcotics search and arrest warrant Saturday at 1607 Gibbons Street. Officers seized more than forty grams of crack cocaine with a street value of approximately $4,000.00, two handguns, ammunition, surveillance cameras, two-way radios, a police scanner, and numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia.

Arrested were Charlotte Savage for Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine in an amount more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams) and Mary Luvanie Jones for Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine in an amount more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams). Savage was also arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

The Greenville Police Department Narcotics Unit will be seeking the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in pursuing federal prosecution on at least one of the persons in custody at this time in an effort to "stack" the federal firearms charge on top of the narcotics offense rather than run sentencing concurrently, giving the suspect a longer prison sentence in a federal correctional facility.

Greenville city officials say the location of Saturday's raid, about five blocks south of Graham Park at 1607 Gibbons, has been a problem in that area for a long time. With the cooperation of the citizens, the efforts of the Greenville Police Department were successful. Through information gained prior to this raid and after the raid was conducted, the Narcotics Unit will be seeking additional arrest warrants in conjunction with this case.
