Greenville Police Department Investigating Accident Near Railroad Tracks

On December 17, 2012, at approximately 6:07 p.m. the Greenville Police Department responded to an accident involving a pedestrian, a car, and a train.A train made an emergency stop at FM 118, at the north city limits of Greenville, after seeing a person laying on the railroad tracks. Once stopped, the engineer exited the train and saw a male stand up near the railroad tracks. The unidentified male began running south bound on FM 118.

While the male was running, he was struck by a car that was traveling north bound. The victim sustained several injuries and was transported by helicopter to a hospital. The accident is still under investigation. The cause of the accident and the severity of the victim’s injuries have yet to be determined.
