Greenville – Trial is set to begin today for two men allegedly involved in a home invasion robbery last year in Greenville.
Jason Eugene Stevenson and Martin Rioz Jr., both of Greenville, were among four people recently indicted for the crime, which took place last October.
Jury selection will begin today. Prosecutors have subpoenaed more than a dozen witnesses to testify in the cases of Stevenson and Rioz. The two defendants' alleged co-actors have also been subpoenaed to testify against each other. Both Stevenson and Rioz have pleaded not guilty.
Reports indicate the four men last October knocked on the door of a residence on Bourland Street, and reportedly rushed into the house after the homeowner opened the door. Two men were brandishing pistols, but all four fled on foot after a victim called police. No one was reported injured during the offense.
