Greenville seeking home makeover grant

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Some Greenville homes are possibly in line for an extreme makeover.

Five local homeowners whose houses are way past their prime may be able to have the structures demolished and rebuilt, at no cost to them, if the City of Greenville receives grant funding.

The City Council Tuesday passed a resolution authorizing the submission of an application to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) Home Investment Partnership Program, which provides funds for the reconstruction of single family homes.

The program would replace the existing residence with a newly constructed home with a 15-year deferred, forgivable loan.

In order to qualify for the program, applicants must own and live in their own home and meet income requirements.
