Greenville streets could soon see upgrade

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Driving in some parts of Greenville could be a bit easier before long.

Portions of more than two dozen streets will be receiving some maintenance work under the city's 2009 Street Improvement Program. The city council is scheduled to award a bid for the project during Tuesday's regular meeting.

There was $350,000 included under the current city budget for the work, which will a "slurry seal" rehabilitation of segments of 24 Greenville streets and roads, covering nearly 26,000 linear feet. Another 3,000 linear feet of sections of Wesley Street will also receive mill and overlay treatment.

Neither new streets nor street reconstruction are included under this year's improvement program.
