Greenville – The City of Greenville is taking steps toward the formation of a tax increment reinvestment zone. The City Council Tuesday hired consultant firm Hawes Hill and Calderon to assist in the creation of such a zone. The TIRZ would pay for public infrastructure improvements, such as water and sewer lines and roads, within a specific area identified for development. The money would come from incremental property taxes, and possibly sales taxes, resulting from development constructed within the zone.
