Greenville tax board receives assistance

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – The board overseeing a tax zone in Greenville receive some extra help.

Members of the city's tax increment reinvestment zone Monday approved to retain the firm of Hawes Hill and Calderon to assist them in their quest of attracting economic development to Greenville.

The company's David Hawes presented the board with a proposed agreement under which he will be paid $1,500 per meeting. One of the board's first major responsibilities is to approve a major projects plan and financial plan, then send to the council for approval. The plan would be the initial proposal for how to spend the money raised from the incremental increases in property value within the zone.

Hawes says his goal is to have the plan in place by August.
