A local woman was killed Monday morning when the pickup she was driving was struck by a train east of Greenville. Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Kyle Bradford said Ladonna S. Rigsby, 66, of Greenville was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on County Road 4108.

Rigsby was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram along the roadway, about one mile east of FM 118, at around 7:15 a.m. Monday when she attempted to cross tracks belonging to the Kansas City Southern Railroad ahead of an oncoming train. Bradford said it was unclear as of Monday evening why Rigsby did not stop at the crossing.

“They are still investigating out there,” he said.
