Groundbreaking for new A&M-Commerce Student Center

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The official groundbreaking ceremony for the new $24.5 million student center at A&M-Commerce is set for this Friday at 11am. The event will be held on West Neal Street across from the new Science Building.

The 92,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility represents the culmination of over seven years worth of planning. Once opened, it will offer students a place to go between and after classes and will play host to a number of different activities. The facility will have wireless internet throughout and operate under extended hours.

After the groundbreaking ceremony, a reception will be held in the current student center, where visitors can view a 6x15ft display featuring perspectives of the new building.

The public is being encouraged to attend.
