Guevara found guilty of Greenville robbery

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A guilty plea and sentence is handed down in a Greenville robbery. Jose Martin Guevara, of Rockwall, was found guilty Wednesday on a charge of aggravated robbery in connection to the armed hold-up of a American National Bank in Greenville last January.

A jury took only about 25 minutes before returning a guilty verdict, plus issued a sentence of 25 years in prison. As a deadly weapon was used during the commission of the offense, Guevara will have to spend at least 12.5 years in prison before being eligible for parole.

Guevara was reported to have tied up a female employee of the bank while threatening her with an ice pick, screwdriver or another form of sharp object during the robbery. He was arrested later that day outside a Rockwall residence. The money was recovered.
