Guilty plea entered in stabbing of Lamar County jailer

By Scott Harvey

Paris – A man with a long criminal past will now spend the rest of his life behind bars after pleading guilty to stabbing a Lamar County jailer.

33-year-old Jeffery Lee Rogers has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to stabbing Chester Carmack 17 times with a shank.

The incident occurred in March while Rogers was awaiting transfer to the Texas prison system for robbing an African American man, reportedly because the man was black. Rogers is an admitted member of the Aryan Circle white supremacist prison gang.

According to Prosecutor Gary Young, Rogers has spent the better part of his adult life behind bars.
