Hearing Thursday in money laundering case

By Brad Kellar

Hunt County – A broken light and failure to signal a lane change results in a driver's arrest for money laundering and possession of marijuana.

Christopher Dwayne Porter, of Washington, Texas, was arrested following the stop on August 25 in Hunt County.

A hearing for Porter, who is seeking a reduction in his $70,000 total bond, the appointment of an attorney or both, is set for Thursday.

During last month's stop, Porter denied a trooper permission to search his vehicle, although a K-9 unit was brought in and alerted on possible narcotics from outside the vehicle. A search resulted in ten pounds of marijuana, $150,000 in cash and a 12-gauge shot gun.
