Hero honored in Greenville
By Brad Kellar
Greenville – A hero is honored in Greenville.
Ronnie Johnson received a standing ovation during Tuesday night's City Council meeting for saving the life of a man whose pickup had become submerged in the pond at Graham Park.
Mayor Tom Oliver read from a proclamation honoring Johnson for his effort.
Johnson, who works in the Water Utility Division, was visiting the park on the evening of January 31. After seeing the vehicle go into the pond he noticed that the man who excited the vehicle was unable to get out of the water, leading Johnson to jump in and pull him out.
Johnson is a 15-year employee with the city.
