High school juniors to be offered SAT for free

By Scott Harvey

– Spring Break is over for Texas high school students, and for many juniors, the focus now turns to the college admissions process, which may mean registering for the SAT.

The Texas Education Agency recently announced it will help students get ready for college this spring by covering SAT registration fees for every junior at Texas Public Schools or charter schools.

The SAT is the most widely used college entrance exam in Texas, and students will be able to take the test for free on either May 1 or June 5th.

Juniors need to ask their high school guidance counselor for a free waiver voucher which can be used to register at sat.collegeboard.com.

Nearly 150,000 Texas high school students take the SAT each year.
