A high speed vehicle chase which started in Paris went through Delta County last Friday before the suspect was apprehended just inside the Hunt County line.

Involved in the chase were law enforcement from the Paris Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, Commerce Police Department, deputies from Lamar, Delta and Hunt of Dearies Dewayne Green, driver of the off white Cadillac Escalade who was traveling at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour. Delta County Sheriff’s deputy Chris Bettis was the lead pursuer in a Dodge Charger

of Green while in Delta County. Bettis logged speeds over 80 miles an hour through the marked construction zone which has a speed limit of 65 miles per hour, often in the opposite lane of traffic.

During the chase, Delta County Dispatch was advised by the passenger via phone call they were voluntarily going to pull over for law enforcement.

Green was taken into custody by Lamar County Deputies and DPS Troopers in Hunt County for Felony Evading with a Motor Vehicle and was transported to the Lamar County Jail.
