A second fatal accident occurred on Hunt County roads this week following a single car accident on Highway 34 Sunday night.

Linda Gray, 23, of Plano was traveling north on Highway 34 when her 2007 Toyota Corolla struck a horse that was in her lane of travel, according to Texas Department of Safety Trooper Kyle Bradford. The accident occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m. Sunday night.

Gray’s car came to rest in an upright position in the right hand ditch of Highway 34. She was taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where she died of her injures the following afternoon. According to the report, the horse was unaccompanied.

The fatal accident was the second in the area in the past few days. Matthew Murphy, 44, of Winnsboro was killed in a two car accident on Interstate-30 East Friday afternoon.

Murphy was driving a Ford F-250 when he struck the back of an 18-wheeler traveling in front of him. An 8-year-old passenger was careflighted to a Dallas area hospital.

The child’s condition has not been released due to federal HIPAA laws.
