Highway Projects Aimed At Promoting Growth For Hunt County

Texas State Historical Association

Byron Taylor, the president and CEO of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, reviews the Hunt County highway construction projects in the beginning stages of development funded by a $24 million bond issue approved by  voters in 2016.  The projects will be supported by $194 million in funding from the Texas Department of Transportation.  The projects include FM 2642, which will be the location of the new Bucky's truck stop in Royse City, and the extension of FM 1570 to State Highway 380 west of Greenville.  Byron says the original plan for a bypass around Commerce has been changed to the development of roundabouts on Highway 24 near the Texas A&M-Commerce campus.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
