Highway projects underway in Hunt County

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – A major highway project is in full swing in Hunt County, while a second project moves along in planning. Major upgrades to State Highway 276 began in August, but is just now getting in full swing. Construction along 276 from FM 35 to FM 36 between Quinlan and Rockwall has been concentrating on bridge and culvert work as well as adjacent right-of-way work. The roadway will be expanded to five lanes that includes one continuous turn lane. The first part of the project is about 20% complete, with the second phase of work expanding 276 from FM 35 to the Rockwall County line set to begin early next year.

State Highway 380 between Collin County and Greenville is also scheduled for reconstruction. Planning for phase one of the two phase project is almost complete. Construction on the stretch of road from FM 903 to the Collin County line is scheduled to begin in late 2006.
